The role of the Board
The Kahurangi School Board is the governing body of our school. It is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the school, including setting policies and ensuring the school is well run.
The Board’s main focus is to support the school to provide the best possible outcomes for all learners.
In practice, the Board:
- Sets the strategic direction and priorities for the school
- Helps ensure the school is a safe, supportive, and inclusive place for students to learn and thrive
- Monitors student progress and achievement
- Is accountable to the school community and the Ministry of Education for the school’s performance
- Is the legal employer of all school staff
The composition of the Board
The Kahurangi School Board is made up of:
- Five parent-elected board members
- One staff-elected board member
- The Principal
Elected board members serve three-year terms.

Board meetings
Board meetings are public meetings, and whānau are welcome to attend.
Meetings are usually held twice a term on a Tuesday evening and are advertised in the school newsletter.
