If your child is going to be absent or late, it’s really important that you let us know as soon as possible.

Letting us know helps us:

• Keep children safe
• Keep accurate attendance records
• Avoid having to follow up with whānau unnecessarily

We’ve made it as easy as possible for you to let us know.

How to let us know

You can report your child’s absence in any of the following ways:

• Complete the online form (below) 
• Call: 04 388 6386
• Text: 027 748 0100 (please don’t call this number, it is only monitored for text messages).
• Email: office@kahurangi.school.nz
• Notify us through the HERO app

Please let us know before 8:50am on the day of the absence, where possible.

If your child is away for more than one day

If your child will be absent for more than one day, please let us know:

• How long they are likely to be away, and
• If anything changes

A gentle reminder

If we haven’t heard from you and your child is absent, the school will follow up to check that everything is okay.
